This is a very dark novel, perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn. Suzette and her husband have a perfect little seven-year-old. At least, that’s what her husband thinks. Because whenever Suzette’s husband isn’t around, Hanna reveals herself to be a violent psychopath who wants her mother dead. Told in alternating points of view, we get to feel Suzette’s growing fear of her child and we get to completely know the diabolical malevolence of her daughter. This book has already earned comparisons to Lionel Shriver’s We Need to Talk about Kevin and Herman Koch’s The Dinner, and the book more than lives up to those high expectations.
