Staff Recommendation of The Golden Unicorn : Rise of the Mythix Book 1 by Anh Do by Amy Hotz

The Golden Unicorn: Rise of the Mythix by Anh Do - Anh Do, probably most famous for his kids’ series Hot Dog and Weirdo, has now tackled a slightly older audience with The Golden Unicorn series for ages ten and up. I recommend it to teens because it has a really cool premise, where mythological beings live amongst us; and what’s better than an action packed adventure series to get kids reading? The language used isn’t too basic so older kids will still find it entertaining despite the age bracket. The protagonist is a teen so the story is well within the parameters of a good mid-YA novel.
