A prophecy has been spoken. A monster has awoken.

As the conquering hold of the United Regions continues to spread, time is running out for Lintang, Captain Shafira and the crew of the Winda to find allies in their quest for peace.

But when they arrive in war-torn Kaneko Brown, the local rebels are too scared to help. The Vierzans have summoned a category ten mythie that devours the star of anyone who dares stand against them.

Worse, the mythie has been prophesied to mean the end of Captain Shafira.

Lintang must find a way to stop the most dangerous mythie in the guidebook . . . or she'll lose her beloved captain forever.

Amy is a keen children’s book nerd and spends a lot of time reading and reviewing picture books with her toddler, Fenrir. But it’s not all colourful pictures! Her passion is getting kids reading, and her life's mission is to get the right books in the right hands. Ask her for advice or recommend something to her and watch her eyes light up!

Lintang’s BACK! But it’s not long before she’s whisked away by Captain Shafira on another magnificent adventure!

With Allay back in the hands of its rightful leader, murmurings of an uprising to remove the Vierzan forces from their bid to conquer across the islands start to rumble loudly as Shafira and her crew travel across the seas to recruit allies to help bring peace back to the lands.

From page one there are battles, mythies, armed forces and that air of swashbuckling adventure that make you excited to sink into an armchair and just read and read and read. I love this series for its moreish storyline, the beautifully crafted characters and its ability to appeal to more than one demographic. Aimed at ages 8-12, this is a series that crosses over the boundaries of age and I think adults will enjoy it too. I know I do! Make bedtime reading a thrilling adventure, or encourage kids to read something a little bit different, steeped in imagery and magic that will inspire even the most reluctant.
