Borobudur Temple in Central Java, Indonesia, is the world's largest Buddhist monument, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its unique design, completed in the 9th century, has no equal. The temple consists of nine concentric platforms - six square and three round - containing many miles of intricately-carved stone reliefs retelling the life of the Buddha, the Jataka folk tales, and other stories.
