Finch’s description of the Australian landscape is gorgeous, perfect for anyone who hasn’t seen Australia in person! It also describes the troubles our landscape is facing due to human interference, though somehow Matthews writes in a way that it doesn’t weight down the plot. There’s a teeny tiny twist of magic, a kind of bend in time, that had me tearing up.
This is a gem. A beautiful, beautiful gem.
